First Baptist Church of Wesley Chapel
We as a Southern Baptist Church hold to the Baptist Faith and Message.
We believe that the Scriptures are verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings. We believe it is the final authority for all faith and practice. (2 Tim 3:16-17) (2 Peter 1:20-21)
We believe in one triune God existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – each having equality in personhood. (2 Cor 13:14) (Deut 6:4)
We believe that God the Father is the omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent Being who is sovereign over all created things. He is perfect and holy in all of his attributes. (1 Tim 6:15-16)
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, being true God and true man without sin. He was born of the virgin Mary with the intent of carrying out the will of the Father to redeem mankind through is substitutionary atonement. (Luke 1:35) (Rom 3:24-25) (2 Cor 5:21) (Matt 26:39) (1 Jn 2:1-2) (Jn 17:4)
We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all believers to assist in guiding them to righteous living. He is our seal and guarantee of our eternal inheritance. (Eph 1:13-14) (Rom 8:14)
We believe that God, having the creative power of being, spoke all things into existence in 6 literal days. (Gen 1:1-31)
We believe man was created in the image of God, however this image has been marred by sin. We believe that sin entered the world through one man, thus spreading to all mankind. This gives man the inability to save himself or find favor with God. (Gen 1:26-27) (Gen 3:6) (Rom 5:12)(Eph 2:1-3) (Rom 3:10-11) (Rom 3:23)
We believe that God makes salvation possible only by His grace. Mankind can accept this free gift of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ’s work on the cross. By grace through faith we believe that mankind can be regenerated, justified, and eventually glorified. It is impossible for those whom God has regenerated to fall away from this state of grace. (Eph 2:8-9) (Jn 3:16) (Rom 8:38-39) (1 Cor 15:3-4) (Jn 1:12) (Jn 10:28-29)
We believe that all believers, universally, make up the church – the body of Christ. The purpose of the church is to join together in local gatherings to worship God through prayer, Scripture reading, preaching, fellowship, discipleship, music, and the ordinances of the church. We believe that it is the responsibility of the church to spread the gospel to the lost. (1 Cor 12:12) (Col 1:24) (Acts 2:42) (Eph 5:19-21) (Heb 10:24-25) (I Cor 11:23-26)
We believe in the imminent return of Christ where He will come as ruler and judge. The redeemed will spend eternity in Heaven with God while the unrepentant will be eternally separated from God in Hell. (Rev 19:11-16) (1 Thess 4:16) (Matt 16:27) (2 Thess 1:8-10) (Rev 20:15) (2 Cor 5:1ff) (2 Peter 3:11-13)
